Thank you for stopping by the Merchants Building and seeing us during the recent Putnam County Fair 2010 event.

 Senior Coffee Klatch on Fridays:

There is a Senior Coffee Klatch on Fridays at Putnam Heritage Assisted Living Residence. By definition a coffee klatch is a casual social gathering for coffee and conversation. Coffee Klatches were started in the 1940's by housewives and various other groups were started around town. These were very popular among most people.

Putnam Heritage is offering the South Dining Room for the social gatherings and will provide free coffee along with a baked goodie on the side. You provide the conversation. The Senior Coffee Klatch is held on Fridays from 9:00 - 11:00 am. All Seniors (65+) are welcome.

Please note that Coffee Klatches are on only until the last Friday in May 2010 before we take a break for the summer.

Putnam Heritage Scholarship:

In February, Ottawa Glandorf Seniors were asked to participate in an Essay Scholarship that would beawarded in May. The Essay topic was "What would you like to see happen in Putnam County in the next 10 years" or " What would you like to do for Putnam County in the next 10 years."So with the help of O.G. Guidance Counselor Jo Roth, the ball started to roll.

The students were given an April 1st deadline.Twenty participants submitted their essays to Putnam Heritage. Five area judges were picked and then the next process began. The five area judges are Bruce Stowe, local artist and entrepreneur,Tina Basinger, retired teacher, Mark Hempfling, local farmer, Roy Klass, local pharmacist, Theresa VanOss, Office Coordinator at St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center. Marie Heitmeyer presented the scholarship to the winner.

These five hand picked judges care so much about the continuing education of our youth. They have struggled with the decision, but after volunteering hours of reading and meeting together, they have reached a decision. Cecilie Trampe-Kindt, an O-G senior was named the winner.

Our congratulations to  Cecilie Trampe-Kindt for winning our first Putnam Heritage $2000.00 scholarship.

Congratulations to our scholarship winner.

Thank you Golden Steppers for coming to entertain us and the residents.

Putnam Heritage Hosts Luncheon :

Dorothy  Campbell says the prayer before Sr. Citizen Luncheon at Putnam Heritage.

Thursday, July 15th, a Sr. Citizen luncheon was hosted at

Forty-eight seniors were present for a 12:30 summer lunch,
preluded by the saying of grace, by Dorothy Campbell and followed
by entertainment performed by Al Flores and his variety of tunes
from the era of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Door prizes
were periodically given out. It was a good time had by all.

Another Sr. Luncheon will be held in in the Fall at Putnam Heritage
which is located at 1380 N. Locust Street in Ottawa. Please contact Putnam
County Sr. Citizen's Center or Putnam Heritage for more details.
